SBAC FALL SEASON OPENER


SANTA BARBARA AQUATICS CLUB completes first swim meet of the season at Cathedral Oaks Athletic Club.

A non-USA Sanctioned swim meet was held at Cathedral Oaks Athletic Club on Saturday September 19th.

SBAC competed against the host team COAC, Carpinteria Coy, and the Ojai Athletic Club. Swimmers competed in the 200 Free Relay, 100 IM, 50 Fly, 50 Back, 50 Breast, 100 Free, and the 200 Medley Relay. The swim meet was divided into 10 and under swimmers/11 and over swimmers.

The final race of the swim meet was the girls 11 and over 200 Medley Relay. Pictured above is the SBAC girls team that came home with the victory.

Everyone swam really well for the season opening event and SBAC and the team is now looking forward to traveling up to Santa Maria for a swim meet on October 10-11.

New start time

Starting Friday all swim groups get pushed back 15 minutes

Novice to 3:45 until 4:30
Age group to 4:00 until 5:45
Senior Group to 3:30 until 5:45

Practice location change

POOL CHANGE

Due to Dos Pueblos High School water polo games the SBAC swim practices will need to relocate to the UCSB Campus pool for the following dates.

Sept 10th (this Thursday)
Sept 15th
Sept 16th
Sept 29th
Oct 8th
Oct 12th
Oct 21nd

Practice times will remain the same for all age groups.

SBAC welcomes Carolyn Watts to the coaching staff,

Coach Carolyn will assume the role of head coach of the novice program and will become the primary coach for the beginning age group program as well as assist with advanced age group and Senior group swimmers.

Here's a bit of a background on Carolyn,

Coach Carolyn grew up in San Jose and been around the pool her whole life. Born into a family of swimmers, she's always loved the water and comes to Santa Barbara as a multi-disciplined aquatics athlete. Carolyn swan for eight years with San Jose Aquatics Club and for Purdue University as a freshman. She also competed nationally and internationally as a synchronized swimmer, representing the US in Russia and Italy as a member of the Junior National team. Carolyn has previously coached both high school athletes and worked with early developmental swimmers in the Bay area. Carolyn now attends UCSB as an Art History major.

In her own word: "I look forward to sharing my love of the water with the SBAC swim team. I had so much fun being on a swim team and I hope I can help SBAC grow and produce super swimmers.

Practice on Labor Day.

SBAC will have 2 practices on Labor Day.

The AM practice will be offered from 6 to 8 am. This practice is for everyone in the age group and senior group that want to attend.

The PM practice will remain at the same time, but there will be no afternoon dryland for age group and senior group swimmers.

Novice starts at 3:30 and ends at 4:15
Age Group and Senior Group start at 4:00 and ends at 5:30.

Everything is at the Dos Pueblos pool.
